Curacao's Gaming Regulator Confirms a Months-Long Portal Breach

The Curacao Gaming Authority has confirmed that its online licensing portal was accessed without authorization for roughly ten months, from about December 2025 to September 2026. The regulator disclosed the breach this week.

Online gaming is a pillar of Curacao's economy and the centerpiece of its new licensing regime under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance, which the island has promoted as a more credible, better-regulated framework than its old model. A breach at the regulator itself is therefore a credibility question for the whole sector, not only an IT incident.

The Ledger is not printing any figure for the volume of data involved, because the authority has not confirmed one. What is confirmed is the fact of the intrusion and its duration, and that alone is material for an industry that sells trust to operators worldwide.
