BP sanctions Trinidad's Ginger gas project to refill Atlantic LNG
The approval aims to feed a gas-starved LNG plant running well below capacity, part of Trinidad's push to lift natural-gas output.

BP approved the Ginger development in March 2025, with production expected from 2027 at a peak near 62,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day, tied back to an existing east-coast platform. The company also reported a nearby discovery at Frangipani.
Atlantic LNG has been running at about 8.5 million tonnes a year against 12.5 million of capacity for lack of feed gas. For Trinidad, whose economy rests on gas, the project is about arresting a decline as much as adding barrels.
