Jamaica Stock Exchange index climbs near 19% on the year

Lower interest rates have lifted Kingston-listed equities, with the main index trading above 371,000 points in mid-August.

The JSE main index stood at 371,390 points on 13 August 2026, up about 18.9% over the year and 1.6% on the month. The rally has tracked the Bank of Jamaica's decision to hold its policy rate at 5.75%.

The index remains well below its August 2019 record of 532,325 points, a reminder that the Caribbean's deepest equity market is still recovering ground lost since the pandemic.
