Suriname's GranMorgu Stays on Course for First Oil in 2028
TotalEnergies keeps the offshore GranMorgu development on track for first production in mid-2028, Suriname's entry into the producer club Guyana opened.

Suriname's GranMorgu project remains on track for first oil in mid-2028, TotalEnergies has indicated, keeping Paramaribo on schedule to follow its neighbor into offshore production.
GranMorgu is Suriname's entry into the club Guyana opened. The same deep-water geology that turned Georgetown into an oil economy runs across the maritime border, and first production in 2028 would begin to convert that geology into government revenue.
The lesson from Guyana is that the years between a final investment decision and first oil are the ones that decide whether a small state captures the windfall or spends it in advance. Suriname is now in that window.
The mid-2028 timeline is from TotalEnergies, reported through Pipeline and Gas Journal.
